What Arrived: Returning Motherboard ASSY for evaluation and repair. No display, just two lines. Customer tried adjusting LCD Pot to our recommended 0.5V to 1.0V, and did not help. They ordered a new LCD and LCD Cable per DTK recommendation. Now they would like to return, and get credit for returned LCD and Cable. I told them we could do that, as they are such a great customer. Did ask customer to label LCD and Cable. (Machine Serial Number:2317-10716)
Description of Problem: (1) Motherboard Part Number 7051100-0J Serial Number 2452 LX16 w/ heat sink (1) Advantech Computer board Serial Number 953942 (1) LCD PN 7001900 (1) LCD Cable 7001300
Work Done: Deactivated RMA on 5/7/25 DTK Customer sent email confirming Motherboard ASSY is shipping. on 5/14/25 DTK Reactivated RMA 5/19/25 DTK LCD and LCD Ribbon Cable tested good. Re-stocked under RMA. Recreated the issue. Found 3.3V DC Supply Shorted 1.2 ohms, but all other DC Supplies are good. Did visual inspection under scope on both side of board, and found no issue. Put in request for Penny to pull the U50 3.3 v supply, to see if that is the source of the short. Looked through other RMAs with 3.3V shorted, and chances look slim for successful repair. 5/20/25 DTK Penny Pulled the 3.3V Regulator, and short remained. Quoted Motherboard replacement. 5/21/25 DTK Customer asked about warranty, as it is in there warranty with the end customer. Discussed with Mike Emola, and h authorized we can discount labor 100%. Also realized I forgot to credit for returned LCD and LCD cable. Revised Repair quote and emailed to the customer. 5/22/25 DTK End customer wanted warranty, and had little to no work for machine, so cannot justify paying quoted amount. Emola stuck to repair $ amount, and customer denied. 6/5/25 DTK
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Found 3.3V DC Supply was shorted out, causing issue with LCD Display as well as others. Many components could be the source of the short. De-soldered a few likely sources, and short remained. Deemed Motherboard uneconomical to repair. Repair Quote is to replace Motherboard, unlock with Computer Board and Software Card, and Testing / Validation. Discounted Labor 100% as customer courtsey.
