What Arrived: (Machine Serial Number: 0741-06493) Returning Circuit Boards and Motor, for evaluation / repair. Customer had Major Product Jam, and changed a bunch of parts, still had it, and ended up being an issue with the Motor Stop Input, either internal or external to the control box.
Description of Problem: (1) MB Assy 82203-00 including 7052000 MB SN 1062 Also includes 7031400 Computer board installed and unmarked CF card installed in it. Also includes metal PS cover, but mounted on top of black plastic insulating standoffs like Computerboard uses. (1) 52025-00 Alpha motor with S/N tag removed but adhesive remaining. Flying leads contacting each other (1) Gray frame Gen2 LCD display, no cable (1) Additional bagged 7031400 without chip or CF card
Work Done: Spun motor, stiff cogging feel, until I saw all bare wires were twisted together and shorting. separated wires and spun freely. Left Power supply on MB but removed Computer board (has CF card installed). Applied AC to MB, Power DC power supply cycled up and down every second or so dimming LEDs on MB. Disconnected PS DC output and did same thing unloaded. Attached test fixture DC supply and power stayed stable. DC bus charged to 171V slowly and discharged quickly to 3V when powered off, as expected. Inserted Computer board with CF and card booted until MB locked message, apparently that card not married to that MB, or some swapping had occurred.. Inserted Test master CF and Assy. booted and passed all diagnostics (not run APL). Ran motor smoothly. Initiated MB assy Burn-in on test fixture. DEK 11 Mar DEK. After 16 hrs 12 min of Burn-in without fault, I interrupted it and performed AC detect heat test. Failed in 2 minutes, chip surface comfortable to the touch. Will need chip and resistor replacement. This could have been reason for spacing PS cover higher, perhaps customer discover less sensitive with door open. DEK 12 MAR 25 Had penny replace U47 and 4 resistors. Reassembled with new PS. Powered up fine, ran basic diagnostics OK.AC detect LED stays green. jogged motor ok. flipped interlock tester switch and safety relay clicked off. Flipped interlock test switch back on,, hit clear/cancel to clear error back to ready, but no relay click on.DC bus not charged. Try to jog, gives error. U3 pin 9 is getting pulled up to 24V. Removed from fixture, measure 1 ohm short both directions from 24v at power supply to u3 pin 9 DEK 12 march 25 Found solder flake wedged udner R9 resulting in pullup resistor value at 3.7 ohm. Probably caused AC detector to fail after short run time. Cleaned up board, replaced U47 and R9. Booted and passed all std diagnostics .Initiated Burn-in overnight 25 Mar 25 DEK Attached connectors to flying leads on returned motor. Passed motor encoder test and runs very smoothly at 50mpm rate. Ran 22 hrs 53 min fine.Passes HEAT GUN test Restarted for a second overnight. DEK 26 MAR 25 Stopped second Burn-in overnight at 17 hr 27 min. Ran fine Passed full diagnostics including Tin box J1 outputs and APL test..Added new labels. Bagged and packaged MB assy for return. Boxed additional OK Computer board for return Put failed display in box for return Attached returned motor to Dales Gen2 test box, initiated 24 hour burn-in to validate motor OK. Attached temperature sensor labels. DEK 27 mar 25 Motor running smoothly after 24 hr 50mpm burnin. Ran 100mpm burnin for 3hrs 56 min. while listening in lab. only slight warmth to the hand., ran great. Returned motor to 72 hrs burn-in at 50 mpm for weekend. Will ship if no issue. DEK 28 Mar25 Remember to ask Chris Dillman if he wants us to unlock 1 GB "Crucial Technology" CF card that came with board but gives MB ID locked. It might belong to a different MB.
