What Arrived: Returning Feeder for repair. False Major Product Jam. Motor does not try to turn. Had customer jumper interlock on Motherboard, check Motor Cables, and checked Motor settings. Sounds like they have enough other feeder where they should be ok without these two for a while. (Machine Serial Number:0706-06378)
Description of Problem: Stripped down 250 Ip ver. 4.1 labeled "4.128 m " feeder S/N 0706-06378 With only: 2 side cabinets including bearing drive assy, timing belts, Alpha motor, centerpiece shafts with collars. dummy plug labelled 70110-00 One 30mm purple single row vac feedbelt on 30mm pulleys no vac chamber One 20mm purple single roe vac feedbelt on 20mm pulleys no vac chamber. (4) purple 20mm discharge belt drive pulleys (2) purple SW MISSING: No Discharge No Magavine parts No rear support parts No sensors No pwer cord No collars on feedbelt idler shaft. Needs cover for discharge ratio pulleys
Work Done: Checked continuity of dummy plug SW is actually 4.1.30a-10 Booted, 4.897 V at 7031400 Computer board. Jogs OK. Motor belt extremely tight, gear train a bit noisy Vertical play in left side discharge slide block. Jogs OK. Initiated burn-in at 40 MPM. gear train is noisy and jolts every 3rd or 4th time Appears to be sliding block jumping up on accell, changing pitch of spur gear and making jerk before descending. Removed spur gear driving upper discharge and gear train quieted . Initiated burn-in with closed rt cabinet to check for overtemp low voltage detect faults. 11: 20 am 21 Oct. Ran fine for 25 minutes, then decided to blow heat gun onto MB as best I could while Power Supply cover was in place.. Coincident with this motor "clucked" and sometimes paused for a second, but renewed burn-in with no generated fault. Removed heat a board continued fine as before. Will replace low voltage detector chip.DEK Dale replaced Thermistor with 18AWG wire. First AC Detect out of stock was bad. Penny replaced it, and this one is good, but for some reason, DC Bus still will not charge. Jaboo is doing mechanical work. 10/25/24 DTK Djibout completed mechanical repairs. 11/1/24 DTK David identified failed resistor R135 in variac circuit gating AC to Powerex. Replacing Q11 (6689000), U41 (6689100) as well as resistor R135 (6527100) Motherboard powered up, ran all diagnostics except APL and all passed. Initiated Burn-in on test fixture. 7 Nov 24 DEK Promised customer repair complete by 11/20/24 but that we may be able to bump up that time line, if they need. Customer said they where just looking for a date, and had not heard of an immediate need.11/8/24 DTK Passed 22 hours of burn in, and all test on Test Fixture. Cannot do APL Test on Test Fixture as the APL Box on test fixture has been broke for years now. Put boards by machine on Dale's bench. 11/8/24 DTK Motor was mounted crooked in frame and rotated 90 degrees from normal such that belt would walk off the pulley. Repaired and remounted motor belt. Installed and reconnected repaired MB. Unit would not power up due to neutral wire feeing line filter broken inside shrink tubing but heald together mechanically. Repaired wire.aligned height adjustment based on bottom position of sliding blocks since the 2 stripper wheels are different Dia.. Did same with discharge height adjust as there is no discharge present and no belts. Ran APL test and passed. Replaced one doorlatch and installed air filter in preparation for burn-in Initiated Burn-in evenong 18 NOV 24 DEK Passed final , including another APL test after 38 hours of burn-in. Created SO 046291 to ship unit back on 21 nov. DEK 20 Nov 24
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Feeder has 2 issues relating to Major Product Jam fault. One is electrical, the other Mechanical. Electrical issue is a temperature sensitive component (optocoupler) on mother board which intermittently give false warning to motor drive waveform generator that AC power is lost causing jerky sporadic motion of the motor. The second is excessive vertical play in the bearing housing which positions the upper discharge drive shaft to a degree that pitch of spur gear can change so much that spur gear can periodically bind and overload motor causing Major Jam Fault to trigger. Labor for replacement of the ball screw and flange bearing to prevent vertical play is such that we recommend preventatively replacing the 10 ball bearings during the process as incremental labor involved is only 1 additional hr..
