What Arrived: ADT 250/350 XLT Returning for evaluation and repair. This same ADT was in for repair in JAN 2019 on RMA# 553975, that time there was an issue with Charge circuit on AMP Drive Board, so DC Bus would not stay charged, causing rods to change position, and then eventually motor not to run when bus voltage got low enough. Just recently they saw the same rod behavior, and questioned if it was same issue, so had them just leave it powered for 30 min and see if it would run at all. Then another issue came up, they where not getting DC Power. Isolated issue to DC Power Supply over the phone troubleshooting. Was thinking likely rod position issue was caused by a failing Power Supply. Customer purchased new Power Supply, and then claimed out of the box failure of DC Power Supply Board, and said they never even hooked up DC cable, and had AC in and no DC out. Sent Part Warranty Power Supply at no charge, customer replaced and saw same rod position issue. They disconnected Timing Belt from Motor Shaft, and could see Motor Shaft jumping. Did some more over the phone trouble shooting. Motor stickers looked good, Motor shaft spun freely, told them it is likely the Motor Drive Board, but could be Encoder on Motor, and if they buy a part that they would have to keep it, and offered return for repair. They choose return for repair, told them if they still had the failed DC Power Supply Board, they should send that back with the ADT. (Machine Serial Number:1248-13270)
Description of Problem: (1) ADT 350 Serial Number 1329-13335 (2) Drop Rods (2) Side Guides (1) Back Stop - No knock down rods, or mount for them -No Lid !!!!!!!! Interlock Jumped!!!!!!! (1) Power Supply SN SC22607136
Work Done: It was more like motor just slowed way down gradually, until it could not run any more. Found problem on AMP Board, never getting Motor Drive Enable Circuit to come on to keep DC Bus for Power X Charged. It will pre-charge, then slowly discharge, but discharge faster if Motor is running, until it discharges, and motor will not run. Also AC stays on Power-X slowly discharges, then discharges fast when Motor Runs. Saw R58 Open, R64 reading 30 ohms instead of 330 Oms. Talked to Greg C, about how this was the exact same failure of this same board in 2022, he aggreged we may as well try another repair. Going to just have Penny replace these two resistors R64 and 658 as well as Q5 Triac and U23 Zero Cross, to be safe. 10/1/24 DTK Found we do not have stock of R58 PN 6514100, Deb to order. Sent customer email letting them know status, and if they wanted to add back the Door Interlock Safety Switch, or replace the Guide Plate, and could use the Grounding Plate they have on Back Order, or a new Grounding Plate. 10/2/24 DTK Missing back rubber stop. Should come up with a way to add it, and a bridge striking plate to support cross member, when it hits. Cross member was repaired with metal plates and zip ties, but feels like a fine repair, just as solid as a new one. Made up plate for bumper stop and installed adjustable bolt. (see pics in explorer) Erickson. 10/2/24 Customer said no to replacing Guide Plate, and adding grounding plate, just going to rig up some tinsel, and static brush. Customer also said no to Saftey Door Interlock switch. Part not in yet. Penny on vacation next two days, will ask here to replace all parts but the back ordered resistor. Penny did here part, just need to add that resistor. Board on Davids desk. 10/3/24 DTK Installed static brush and static utensil on drop table shafts. M.E. 10/4/24 Add resistor, AMP board past test on test fixture. Put AMP 25.out back on board. Made a better jumper for door interlock that uses a F-Lock connector. Got electronics assembled and changed damaged power entry module. Found it was unable to ever trigger front jam sensor. Flipped senor upside down to allow it to trigger the front jam sensor. Adjusted stop bolt for bumper, so back zero sensor will be triggered properly. Passed electrical tests. Found another crack in the Guide Plate, used a 10/10 2 hole plate, and some zip ties to shore this up. Sounded kind of squeaky, set screws are good. Added lube to rods, and sound went away. Prepared Repair Quote, and emailed to the customer. 10/4/24 DTK They do want to use CC to pay for back order ground plate and ship with, as part order. Got CC info from customer. The want to wait to ship, until after the Hurricane passes. Bolted boards in, put on cover, and passed all testing. Moved to shipping. Waiting for input from customer to ship ADT, and Back ordered Ground Plate. 10/7/24 DTK Restoked Power Supply. Customer sent PO, and give OK to ship. Updated Assigned Serial Number. Processed for shipping SO 046059 10/11/24 DTK
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Issue on AMP Drive Board with High Voltage Charging circuit, causing it to start cycling slower, and slower until it cannot run anymore. Replaced first 4 electrical components on the AMP Drive Board to solve this issue. Power Entry Module as physically damaged, but electrically functional, recommend replacing. Used 3 pin Housing, to make a more secure jumper of the Safety Door Interlock. Added Static Brush and Tinsel to ground out Product Rods. Used 2 Hole Join strip to brace a crack in the Guide Plate. Last 2 items are for back bumper, to make it less likely for Guide Plate to break in future.
