What Arrived: Motor doesn't start in jog or automatic mode. Cooling fan isn't working. All belts were replaced earlier this year. Customer aggreged to $500 EXPEDITE FEE Told them 3-4 days for quote, and a week after PO Received! (Machine Serial Number:9937-01468)
Description of Problem: MFT 250 ED W/ Table Serial Number 9937-01468 (Old Blue Motor. Believe original motor encoder, as cap is not diagonal) (2) 30mm S Old all Purple Habasit Feed Belts (2) SW 68 (4) 20mm ED Discharge Belts (1) E/R (1) 50mm Metal Rear Support Curve ASSY (2) Tall Product Support Rod ASSY (1) Set Mag Side Guides Tall (1) Stack Light) (1) Black Tote of Product Samples
Work Done: Machine is in very good shape. Very clean. Looks like it was bought for one job in 1999, and vacuum sealed. The old all purple habsit belts that they stopped making like 12 years ago look great, and show no sighs of dry rot. Besides the Stack light coming apart, Bulbs burnt out in the Stack Light, and the cooling fan needing re-wiring, oh and filters for the electronics, it is passing all tests. Machine is pre burn in, and extensive upgrades are needed, as well as a newer version of Interface Board, to run burn in. So I ran customer samples for about an hour, with no issues. Sent customer email, letting them know what I found, and if they have any more details on the issue. 4/23/24 DTK Customer asked to have Fan replaced. And thought maybe loose wire caused it. Did some more product testing, and wiggled motor wires. Ran for about a half hour, and in that time put the Signal Light all back together. Customer turned down upgrade. Attached email has more detail on the conversation. Quoted Customer. Then did some more testing. When I fully closed the electrical cabinet the problem was present, motor would not run. Opened and closed the door several times, and it would run with door open, but not closed. Quick sent customer email letting them know I recreated the problem, and to disregard old quote. Did suspect Motor Cable, but could not get it to act up by folding pulling or wiggling cable. Saw with AMP Board Cover off it would run a motor with door closed. Then I changed how Motor Harness Cable was being pinched when door closed, and it could run now with Door closed. Decided I would replace this Motor Cable the next day. 4/24/24 DTK Rewired Motor cable, and found machine would run with door closed. Tested for over a half hour, with door closed, and then updated quote, and sent to the customer. 4/25/24 DTK Tested another hour with product, and ran check out. Passed all testing. Shipping back under SO# 045145 4/26/24
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Found Motor would not run with electrical side door closed, but would run with it open. Determined problem must be an intermittent connection on Tech 80 Motor Cable. Replaced Cable, and tested with customer supplied product for about 45 minutes, and saw no issues. Offered software / hardware upgrade for about $3.5K with main benefit being able to test motor in prolonged 24 - 48 hour unmonitored test. Customer elected not move forward with this upgrade. Will test for another hour running product before shipping. All of the bulbs where burnt out in the Signal Light. Signal Light has also came apart some, we got it back together without much trouble. Found Cooling Fan for electrical enclosure was not running. Wiggled the fan wires and it started working. Offered customer re-wire of this Cooling Fan, or replacement of this Cooling Fan, and they chose replacement. Fan Filters in electrical cabinet are either missing or detonating. Machine has passed all other electrical tests. Machine is very clean, and in very good mechanical condition. I do not typically see them arrive in this good of condition. This machine has the old light up Power Switch that we found right at the current limit. Will replace at no charge per company policy. Customer agreed to $500 Expedite Fee, before machine was returned.
