What Arrived: Customer didn't use the machine for some time. First machine was not booting up. They ordered are replacement Computer Board 7031400, and this got it to boot. Then the Line Speed Encoder was not working. They ordered a replacement Encoder, but this did not fix the issue. Looks to be a Motherboard, Connector Board, or Connector Board cabling issue. Returning Multifeeder for evaluation / repair. Give customer 2-3 week lead time for time at MFT. $400 - $1,000 just to repair Encoder, but we would quote refurbishment. (Machine Serial Number:0619-06256)
Description of Problem: MFT 350 IP XLD (250 wide Discharge shifted all the way to right side elec) Serial Number 0619-06256 (3) 30mm R SE Feed Belts (3) 30mm 1097300 stripper Wheel (6) 20mm XLD Discharge (1) 25mm Rear Support Curve (1) Set 125mm 65 DEG. Product Side Plate assy (1) Set 50mm 90 DEG Plate (does not have mounting plate for these) (2) Product Support Rod ASSY (1) Custom Feeder Mount (1) E/R Pair (1) Signal Light (1) Old Encoder (no spring tension) with mounting (1) Sick Start Sensor w/ bracket (1) The new Encoder 8130100 they just bought. .
Work Done: Saw velocity was not moving in encoder diagnostics. Passed all other electrical test. Both Encoders are fully functional. New Encoder is in great shape, and un used. Machine is real clean and in good shape. They take excellent care of their stuff. Verfied issue was not Front Connector Board or cables. Then noticed if I spun encoder real fast VEL would bump up. Then saw C= is looking normal. Found Conveyer Counts Per 100mm set to 8056, and this was causing the VEL issue. But after changing it the VEL# would bonce around and even go to ZERO while Encoder is running. Thought it was Optos on Motherboard Penny changed U2, and U3 but this did not solve issue. Tried with new EEPROM and this did. Will change EEPROM (just Accutipping defaults in their) and update AMP Code to IP 12. Then Test more. In talking with Dale, the customer did ask for a credit for new Encoder PN 8130100. Will credit it. Restocked Encoder under RMA#. Please issue credit to WYN050 for price of Encoder, on Invoice# 039076. Emailed them about their Credit. 8/20/21 DTK Updated software to 4.1.29C and AMP Code 12.Out. Installed Motherboard, and found Encoder Diagnostic works normally now! 8/24/21 Set up software, and did an Accutipping Speed Match simulation, and machine passed. Found Low Product Sensor was not working due to pad being lifted on U2 when Penny Changed. Added wire to connect U2.2 to U2.4, to solve issue. Upper Discharge Belt Center Piece Shaft was Bent, replaced to proved problem. Also replaced O-Ring for Encoder. Will just need to slap on Fan Filters, update serial number tag, update assigned serial numbers, and finial check out. Prepared repair quote, and emailed to the customer. 8/24/21 DTK Found machine had intermittent Major Product Jam. Emailed customer informing them of the issue. 8/25/21 DTK Was burning in Motherboard on test fixture. Problem was not consistent, and no Bus Voltage. Found U60 Opto failed. Viki replaced U60, and it will not run a motor. 8/30/21 DTK Motherboard passed all testing on test fixture. Put into 24 hour burn in on test fixture. After 6 hours of burn in, re quoted customer. Want to do a 48 hour burn in on test fixture, and 48 hours of burn in - in machine. 8/31/21 DTK Passed 48 hour burn in, and check out. Did another Encoder test / Accutipping simulation as well, all looked good! 9/7/21 DTK Shipping under SO# 039382 9/8/21 DTK Ship back FedEx Freight Collect.
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Found Software Card had corruption causing issues with the Line Speed Encoder Input. O-Ring for Encoder Wheel is worn and should be replaced. The Center Piece Shaft for the Upper Discharge Belts is bent and wobbling. Fan Filters are detreating, and should be replaced. REV 1 - Found a Optoisolator failed, causing the Major Product Jam.
