What Arrived: Returning Feeder for evaluation and repair. Problem in product sensor circuitry. (Machine Serial Number:unknown at this time)
Description of Problem: MFT 350 IP XED serial number 0515-06132 (2) 20mm ECG S Feed Belts (1) 20mm Stripper Wheel (1) 10mm Stripper Wheel (4) 20mm Discharge Belts (1) E/R Pair (1) Bottom Mounting Plate
Work Done: Determined problem is on the Motherboard for Product Sensor circuit. Believe the A to D U16 has failed. Height adjustment pots are not working. Going to ignore this as they are rarely used. Feeder passed all other electrical diagnostics. 6/24/15 DK Jane replaced the parts 6/29/15 DK Re-installed Motherboard. Feeder passed all diagnostics. Completed list of mechanical parts to replace. Will burn in for a while before quoting. 7/8/15 DK Put Feeder in burn in. Feeder 1.75 hours of burn in before quoting. Prepared repair quote and sent to the customer. 7/9/15 DK Feeder passed 24 hour burn in. 7/10/15 DK Received PO. 7/13/15 DK Completed work to the machine. Put in burn in and observed for proper operation. 7/17/15 DK MFT loss power over the weekend. Status of burn in unknown. The machine ran for at lease 4 hours successfully before I left Friday. Decided to do finial diagnostics. Found that Product Sensor failed short. Problem was U16 again. Checked surrounding circuit. Looks good. Found that these A to Ds come from a broker, and likely have lower quality. Jane replaced U16, and Product Sensor circuitry is functional. Put Feeder in burn in and observed for proper operation. 7/20/15 DK Feeder passed burn in and check out. Shipping out under SO# 24865. 7/21/15 DK
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Found that an A to D Converter chip failed on the Motherboard causing the machine to be unable to process Product Sensor input. The Fan Filters are ripped and clogged. There is excess vertical play in the Stripper Wheel Shaft, and Upper Discharge Shaft. This play will decrease the placement accuracy of the machine. Almost the whole machine needs to be disassembled to replace the Sleeve BRG Flanges to remove the excess play. Recommend changing Feed Belts, Stripper Wheel, and Discharge Belts at this time as they are worn, and there is no extra labor needed to replace them due to the state the machine needs to be disassembled to replace the Sleeve BRG Flanges. Two of the Collars to align the Idler Pulleys for Feed Belts are cracked. The Discharge Sliding Blocks are also cracked. Repair quote does not reflect final charges for service of this unit. Other problems either mechanical or electrical may arise during the RMA process due to natural causes. Quoted labor is an estimate. Actual labor time will be billed. This quote does not reflect shipping charges. All items will be shipped via UPS ground unless otherwise specified on purchase order. A $475.00 diagnostic/administration/handling fee will be applied to an item the customer deems is uneconomical to repair. All replaced and un-repairable items will be disposed of, unless otherwise stated on purchase order. * A hard copy purchase order that agrees to repair quote charges is required before work can continue.
