What Arrived: Returning APL Interface, and SCR board for evaluation and repair. (Machine Serial Number:unknown at this time)
Description of Problem: (1) APL Interface board PN 7045700 SN 0145 (1) SCR board PN 5507000 SN 1345 (NEW) (1) APL Control Box PN 8202000 (APL SN 0224 (NEW) SCR SN 1481)
Work Done: Started looking at control box. Found it would blow fuses. AC input is shorted on SCR board. D1 or Z1 is shorted on APL board. More than likely it is D1, because the Z1 MOV doesn’t show signs of tripping. D1 shorts when A1 and A2 of SCR board are reversed. 2/13/13 DK SCR board SN 1481 AC input shorted. Un-repairable. APL board SN 0224 had D1 shorted. Replaced and it is fully functional. APL board SN 0145 24v Regulator has failed. Replaced and it is fully functional SCR board SN 1345 is fully functional. Replaced fuses in APL control box. Jog switch is sticks a little, replaced it. Missing SCR cover. Control box tested good. Prepared repair quote and emailed to the customer. 2/15/13 DK Received PO. Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: Found fuses blown for AC input and overload fuse for motor. SCR board SN 1345 (recently purchased as a spare) was found to be fully functional. SCR board SN 1481 (original board in Control Box) has its AC input shorted which was causing the input fuses to blow. This board is un-repairable. This damage is consistent with applying 230v AC when the board is set for 115v AC. APL board SN 0145 (original board in Control Box) had a 24v DC regulator fail. This failure is consistent with applying 230v AC when the board is set for 115v AC. APL board SN 0224 (recently purchased as a spare) had a diode shorted out for motor control. This failure is consistent with motor power wires to SCR board connected in reverse. The jog switch on the APL box was sticking. The SCR shield is missing. APL boards (SN 0224 & SN 0145), SCR board SN 1345, and the APL Control box are fully functional. SCR board SN 1481 is un-repairable. Repair quote does not reflect final charges for service of this unit. Other problems either mechanical or electrical may arise during the RMA process due to natural causes. Quoted labor is an estimate. Actual labor time will be billed. This quote does not reflect shipping charges. All items will be shipped via UPS ground unless otherwise specified on purchase order. A $475.00 diagnostic/administration/handling fee will be applied to an item the customer deems is uneconomical to repair. All replaced and un-repairable items will be disposed of, unless otherwise stated on purchase order. * A hard copy purchase order that agrees to repair quote charges is required before work can continue.
