What Arrived: Refurb, and evaluate compleatly wire to be compaitable with feeder SN 0417-07098 (Machine Serial Number:417-07098)
Description of Problem: MFT 250 ED int SN 0417-07098 (2) 20mm plum r feed belts (2) 10mm plum s.w. (4) 20mm plum discharge belts (1) s shaped support curve (1) low product sensor (1) e/r
Work Done: Took a look at pics sent by customer with Greg. conclusions that there should be a timer relay in series with the power to solinoid board. There possibly is a SSR connected to the feeder but cannot tell how it is wired in MFT has also not sold such a component since just prior to the feeder in questions shippment. Customer could either have wires coming losse from feeder for gluer or use same wires for gluer. Left message with Kevin to disscuess finding and possible out comes. 3/23/09 DK Evaluated feeder found that comp. board, and software chip would not alow feeder to boot up replaced. One cooling fan is down. evaluate mech found high speed gearing on right side (ASK KEVIN IF OTHER FEEDER HAS HIGH SPEED GEARING). 3/23/09 DK Peter called to ask status of feeder. Told him there was a quote out there to get the feeder running, but there was talk of making it like another and some open questions. He said he wasn't going to send the system back. Assuming so that we could be sure this feeder was like the other. Recieved PO for repair quote. 3/10/10 DK Compleated work on PO. 3/11/10 DK Feeder passed a 24 hour burn in. 3/14/10 DK Feeder passed check out. Ready to ship via UPS GND 3/14/10 DK
Repair Quotation Notes: Completed By: The computer, and software chip was causing the feeder to be unable to boot up. Feeder came in with out I/O card, so a replacement is needed so that this feeder can be in position two. The timer relay will be use so that the outputs of the I/O cards are not stuck on during the boot up process. The rest of the items listed were either damaged or missing from feeder. The electrical engineer, and myself took a detailed look at the pictures that were emailed of feeder in position two. We found that some of the wiring that was in the feeder originally is no longer used. There are two cables that go out from the feeder to the gluer control. There are two options one the cables can be taken off feeder by loosening strain reliefs and disconnecting wires from I/O card. Pulling them through and connecting to the other feeder. The other option is to have wires coming from feeder hanging loose, and at the time this feeder is put into position two these wires will be connected to gluer controller in appropriate position. If option two is chosen MFT will need to know what length is required for gluer control cables. There was some question as to exactly what the component is that is located in the upper right hand corner of the electrical side in photo. We believe that this is an SSR in which case it is certain the Multifeeder has not installed this component. The electrical engineer, and myself would be interested in knowing were this component is plugged into the feeder as we can not determine this by the photos. I am confident that with the changes made to the feeder that an electrically capable individual can look at both feeders and see the changes needed to be made to wire these two feeders exactly the same without needed any additional components aside from the component located in upper left hand corner of feeder in photos (as MFT does not carry such a component in stock) As far as software goes Multifeeder does not have a record of the settings for feeder in position two. A copy of these setting should be downloaded from the feeder to a computer as soon as possible. This is done by hooking a null modem cable to a computers com port, and then plugging the other end to the rear of the feeder (J4 RS232) connection. Then open HyperTerminal on the computer. HyperTerminal will prompt for a com port (1 or 2) this is the port that the null modem cable is connected two on feeder. After clicking OK there are some HyperTerminal properties data bits per second to 19200, data bits = 8, Parity = none, stop bit = 1, and flow control = hardware. Then power up feeder. Go to menu 6 for production log. Then 6 for print feeder settings there will be an option for all, and non defaults recommend that both are copied to computer. Repair quote does not reflect final charges for service of this unit. Other problems either mechanical or electrical may arise during the RMA process. This quote does not reflect shipping charges, shipping material or box.
