Project Scope: The proposed system consists of two Multifeeder Technology MFT 250 V3 XED Signature Series Friction Feeders to each feed two test strip sheets into an existing flighted infeed at a rate of up to 60 batches of two per minute. This proposal is contingent upon a successful test of a stack of customer supplied samples. Each MFT 250 V3 XED Signature Series Friction Feeders will gently separate your test sheets from and inclined stack and will transport them individually onto the 375mm (14.76") long discharge of the feeder. A Vacuum Track Assembly consisting of a vacuum chamber and a feed belt with holes that travels over the chamber will be used to allow the feeder to best grip the products as they are fed (house vacuum supply). A Pneumatic Shaker will be mounted onto the rear support assembly of the feeder to assist with product flow. Each feeder will be signaled to feed two sheets into the flighted in feed and will provide back feeder status via a Standard Interface Cable Assembly. This proposal assumes that the customer will mount, install, and integrate the feeders with the existing flighted in feed. Options available: Options include Multiple Product Detection (Double Detection), a Spare Parts Kit, a vacuum supply, a Low Product Detect Sensor Assembly, and standard feeder installation.
Notes: Addresser Based Systems W.O. 2020054 5/7: Packed and waiting for money. Reminded them again yesterday that we need their money prior to 5/11 ship date. 4/30: Customer asked to ship 5/11 (asking for clarification on ship date or delivery date). Need 2nd payment prior. 4/23: Lindsay will ask again for down payment on 2nd machine. 4/16: In shipping. Waiting for money. Want it in May. 4/9: Prior to ship check was mailed Monday. FAT was approved. Bot machines packed and ready. They said they are not ready to pay the down payment on the second machine yet. 4/2: Should have video finished by end of day today. With approval we will ship first machine. 3/26: Second feeder being built right now. First feeder in burn in. 3/19: Processed. Waiting turn in production queue. Still waiting for customer to define ship date for 2nd feeder. 3/12: Received payment on first machine. Need to process and move to procurement. Will process and build both feeders at once. Need confirmation from customer and what dates in April and May they would like to receive each feeder. 3/5: New order. Needs to be processed. Want to ship 1 machine in April and 1 in May. For each of the individual products shown, I loaded the entire amount of product they sent in. The additional stack height did cause the gap spaces to tighten up a bit, but I was able to adjust the support curve to return the gap to a similar spacing that it was when running a shorter stack. After fine tuning they all fed great even with the additional stack height. The customer also sent in a short stack of temp strips that were labeled “very curled, will they feed?” These are shown in the last clip in the video. I was able to make them feed, but as you’d expect they were more finicky. They were hanging up in the infeed at first, I had to play with the support curve a bit to get them to go. They also feed with less consistency, with some gap spacing fluctuation and skewing. So yes, they will feed, but when they are that curled they will take more fine tuning and the results won’t be as solid as with flat product. Let me know if you have any questions! The only chargeable upgrade that I found necessary was a static minimizer bar, which is a requirement. Without it, the products became so statically charged during feeding that they would get pulled backwards underneath the discharge as they were fed. The thicker parts of the products did seem to fool the product sensor at times, but I was able to reposition the sensor and get each product to count properly. I know this is a v-feeder application, so I intentionally avoided using any debounce parameters. The only reason I mention this is so you are aware that the customer may have to play with sensor position at times, and could potentially run into a product that doesn’t work if they have more product variety than was sent in. All of the products were packaged in stacks that were bound by rubber bands. For most of the products this did not cause problems, but the last one in the video was distorted by the rubber bands causing them not to lay flat. You can see this in the product stack in the clip showing the machine from the back. I ended up filtering out some of the worst from the stack to get these to feed. I recommend long term they look into alternatives to the rubber bands, or they will have to do the same. I think that covers it, please let me know if you have any questions!
