Project Scope: The proposed system consists of a Multifeeder Industrial Performance tipping system to feed a base sheet 3-5/8” x 6” onto a vacuum track conveyor, apply glue to the card, apply a 1-1/4 x 1-1/2” sticker to the backer card to the spot glued surface at a rate of up to 350 per minute with an accuracy of +/- 1/16”. An MFT 350 XED Industrial Performance “IP” Series Friction Feeder will be mounted onto an HDSR 1000-350 Stand on Rollers and will feed the backer cards and other products up to 300mm wide (11.81”) one at a time onto a VTC 2000-550 High Speed Vacuum Track Conveyor (2000mm long and 550 mm wide). A Nordson Hot Melt Glue system will be used to apply glue to the backer card. A second MFT 350 IP XED Friction feeder will be used to feed a sticker card into the pinch point of a Pressure Roller Assembly to assure proper placement of the card onto the spot glued surface. This feeder will be equipped with small product change parts including and top and bottom bridge belt to accommodate the 1-1/4” x 1-1/2” product. Each feeder will be configured with Left and Right Discharge Side Guides to be certain that the products are straight as they are fed. Continuous Motion Accutipping consists of an encoder mounted to the line and software and hardware to vary the speed and timing of the feeder to be certain that the backer card is placed in the correct location regardless of the speed of the base conveyor. The vacuum conveyor 550mm (22” wide) and 2m (6.6ft) long will be equipped with vacuum belts that run over vacuum chambers that guide the belt side to side that are approximately 1.67m long (65”). Each vacuum chamber track has two vacuum flow controls (one for front half and one for back half). The complete tracks with belts are mounted onto extruded aluminum rails to allow the entire track to be adjusted side to side. The vacuum conveyor will be configured with left and right side. A vacuum pump will be used that is an oil-free, contactless, regenerative blower capable of 221 cfm (at atmosphere), and a maximum vacuum capability of 85 inH2O. This vacuum blower is equipped with a 2.55kW, 3 phase, TEFC motor suitable for use on 200-275/380-480volt, 50/60Hz, 3450 rpm electrical service. Integral silencer and suction mesh to supply vacuum to the system. The completed products will be transferred onto an SC 2000-350 Shingling Conveyor into the pinch point of a Pressure Roller Assembly. The first feeder can be set to feed the card in batches and paused to create a gap between completed batches of the product on the Shingling Conveyor. System Integration and testing includes the hardware necessary to allow for a positive transfer of the product to the spot glued surface as well as testing of all individual pieces to perform as one complete system. This includes Electrical Interface box to tie the feeders and conveyor together in a hand-shaking protocol. Integration also includes uncrating the Nordson Hot Melt Glue system and configuring and testing the system to feed your products.
